The problem

Why do people in Kraków hear about emergencies late?

News is loud, official alerts cover only the biggest emergencies, and most local updates are in Polish. So people often learn about a fire, a closed road or a police operation from friends, hours later. Stillwatch reads official sources and local newsrooms for you and speaks only when something near you needs action.

  • Silent by default

No news stream to scroll. If nothing affects your places, your phone stays quiet.

  • Action first

Every alert starts with what to do. Then what happened and how close it is.

  • Who confirmed it

Police, fire service, the city, or two independent newsrooms. Rumours are never shown as facts.

How it works

How does Stillwatch work?

Add your places, such as home and work. Stillwatch checks Kraków police, the fire service, public transport, the city, the weather service and local newsrooms every minute. When something near your places needs action, you get one alert with what to do and who confirmed it. The rest of the time, it stays silent.

Anatomy of an alert

What does a Stillwatch alert look like?

Every alert fits on one screen and reads in about ten seconds. It shows how serious and how close the event is, what to do, what happened, who confirmed it and a map of the area. Updates arrive in the same thread, and every alert ends with an all clear or a correction.

  1. 1

    How serious and how close

Level and distance to your nearest place come first.

    • CriticalDanger near your places. Sound even in silent mode. At night only when confirmed by emergency services.
    • ImportantSomething to do today. A normal notification with sound.
    • InfoMight change your plans. Quiet, never at night.
  2. 2

    What to do

One to three steps, from official guidance. Then what happened.

  3. 3

    Who confirmed it

Fire service, police, the city, or two independent newsrooms. Labels only move up.

  4. 4

    Where, on a map

The area, your places and how far you are from it.

  5. 5

    When it is over

Updates arrive in the same thread. You always get the all clear or a correction.
